App Help

We have provided some basic instructions and tips for how to use the FoxFilter app. We will continue to enhance these instructions regularly.

How do I use the FoxFilter app?

The FoxFilter app was designed as a web browser, but with features that are designed to help filter out content that you prefer not to see.

To get started, launch the FoxFilter app and type in a domain name (e.g. foxfilter.com), or enter a search term such as 'casino'. When entering a search term, FoxFilter will default to Yahoo as the search engine, but you can use the Settings button to choose other preferred search engines.

When you submit a URL or search term, FoxFilter will examine the content of the web page being requested. If any content is detected which does not agree with your personalized filtering rules, FoxFilter will hide the page and display an alert screen. Sometimes, pages may be blocked that shouldn't, but you can add the domain to your list of trusted sites so that FoxFilter will no longer block pages on that site.

As you use FoxFilter, it will maintain a history of the pages you have visited or that have been blocked. For your privacy, history is only stored on your device. Please refer to our privacy policy on how we value your privacy: http://www.foxfilter.com/privacy

Navigation

When you first launch the app, the Dashboard screen will be shown, which provides easy access to your bookmarks and history as well as a search input to start a new search.

While viewing a web page, FoxFilter provides a bottom navigation tab strip that offers features to view the main menu, start a new search, or navigate backwards and forwards within your history.

Scrolling Features

FoxFilter tries to stay out of your way as your are viewing a web page. As you scroll down a web page, FoxFilter will hide the top search input field and the bottom navigation tab strip. As you scroll up, FoxFilter will show them again. We do this to help give you a full-screen experience while browsing pages.

Customizing & Managing Your Settings

The Settings screen offers a variety of ways to personalize your filtering preferences. FoxFilter offers the ability to manage a list of keywords that you want to use for blocking content. You can also manage a list of trusted sites (aka whitelist). If you prefer, you can change the Mode in Settings to Whitelist Mode, which will only allow access to the sites you specify. Most customers use the Filtering Mode for greater flexibility, but the Whitelist Mode is available if you prefer to use that feature.

If you have a subscription that is shared across multiple devices or computers, you changes will be applied to each within 15 minutes of saving your changes.
